One stormy night in Rishikesh, India, I headed to the rooftop of my guesthouse with a tripod and timer.

As the lightning illuminated the skies above the Himalayan foothills, the entire town glowed as well.

At one point, the stars broke through the cloud cover.

Perhaps my favorite part of the evening was when my wife Carrie and our friend Lauren came up to the roof with their headlamps. I have always wanted to experiment with light trails, and I would say that our first go at it was a success…and a ton of fun!
