Baseball is as American as apple pie, Betty Crocker, the New York Yankees and the Red, White and Blue.

. . .

My favorite time to photograph a baseball stadium is when a giant American flag is unfurled across center field. Usually, this happens before an important event like Opening Day, the All Star Game, or the first home game of each postseason round.

In 2012, I was fortunate enough to be at the first home game of the American League Division Series (ALDS) at Yankee Stadium. It was the third game of the ALDS and the New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles in thrilling 12th inning walk-off fashion.

Tonight, the series is even at 2-2 and the country’s eyes are pointed towards the Bronx. Who will win and advance to face the Detroit Tigers in the 2012 ALCS? That’s a question that shall be answered in a few short hours…

The bonus photo above was taken before the start of the first ever Yankee ALDS playoff game at Yankee Stadium back in 2009.

My friend Micheil is of the mindset that every time he takes me to a Yankee playoff game, they win the World Series.

That’s probably the only reason he would take a New York Mets fan like me into enemy territory. That, and steak dinner…

…here’s lots more Yankee Stadium photography…
