The Team You Love to Hate – The New York Yankees (Stadium)

The New York Yankees: you either love ‘em or hate ‘em.

Maybe it’s their 27 World Series championship rings that inspire jealousy. Or the fact that the Yankees’ payroll is always the highest in baseball. It’s a safe bet that they have, at some point in the last 100 years, beaten your favorite baseball team in the postseason.

As a West coast transplant, I can’t count how many conversations haves started with, “I’m from New York, but don’t worry, I’m a Mets fan.” It’s like a universal bond amongst non-Yankee fans.

As a Mets fan, I especially love this shot, which was taken during the 2011 Subway Series and has a Met on the jumbotron. This game would be the only one the Mets would win that weekend.

During the 2011 Subway Series where the New York Yankees play the New York Mets, I found this unique vantage point from the back row of the lower level in far left field. The best part? New York Met Jason Bay is on the jumbotron at Yankee Stadium.

All rivalries aside, I truly do enjoy going to Yankee games. One of my best childhood friends, Meeks, has had right field bleacher seats since Yankee Stadium was located across the street and has taken me some classics over the years. In fact, every photograph on this page was taken at a game I went to with him. You da man buddy!

When New Yankee Stadium opened in 2009, they broke up a classic crew of fans known as the Bleacher Creatures when they assigned them to different sections to decrease their rowdiness.

The above photograph was taken from Meeks’ seats in the right field bleachers of New Yankee Stadium (or “Fakie Stadium,” as he once called it). The Yankees were playing the Boston Red Sox, in one of the most fierce and storied rivalries in professional sports.

Haha, that didn’t take long for my theory to be disproved :) Who is your favorite team?
