A Small Island in the Middle of New York City: At Night
At night, Roosevelt Island is especially beautiful and eerie. Unlike the rest of New York City, which never sleeps, the Island goes to bed pretty early and leaves its streets and courtyards empty.

I am so fascinated with this island, especially how it has changed so much. The history is so interesting. I did not know all this had happened to the island. I knew it as Welfare Island. I was born in NY, raised as a child in Flushing in the 50′s, now known as China Town, and left Merrick L.I. in 1970 for TX so I missed all the changes. Thank you for your marvelous pictures. What a lovely place it has become.
