American Photographic Artists (APA)

APA-San Francisco selected my image of a train curving though the hills of Sri Lanka for exhibition in the 2010 Something Personal show in San Francisco, CA.

My photo of a monk piloting a boat up the Mekong River was featured on the front page of the CNN.com Travel section on May 2, 2010, as the lead for a feature on Laos. Another photo of a worker in the fields of Don Det also was used in the slideshow.

Local Social’s Vessels Event

Local Social merges elements of design, art and craft through community collaboration and events in Oakland and the Bay Area. For their Vessels event, I showed six photographs that portrayed my possible definitions for the word.

Tiki

A photograph of a tiki head with a Shrek doll in the background was selected for inclusion in Studio Quercus’ Tiki show and was on display during the Oakland Art Murmur.

200 Yards

Two of my images were selected for a juried show at Free Gold Watch, a tee shirt screening shop in San Francisco. One was an photograph of the screen board archives and the other was a collage spelling out Free Gold Watch with letters I found scattered around the store. The collage was featured on the postcard for the show as well as on the home page of the 200 Yards Web site.

Benicia Herald

I had the opportunity to take photos at the 2010 Outside Lands music festival in San Francisco, CA, for the Benicia Herald newspaper in California. During the first three songs of their sets, I was in the photographer’s pit snapping away as Al Green, Phoenix, Nas & Damian Marley and Janelle Monae crooned to the crowd.

2010 Saint-Étienne International Design Biennial

From November 20 – December 5, 2010, this trade show, expo and conference on transportation design featured my photo of the Roosevelt Island Tram soaring above the East River in New York City.

I refer to the Overstay in Bangkok as the worst place I’ve ever stayed. Part bar, part squathouse, my photos documenting the atrocious conditions housing more than 20 travelers were used for an article on the Overstay published on September 18, 2009.
